It needs to be applied intelligently 256bit AES should only be applied to the most critical files - high risk government grade. BCVault has been designed from 'concept' to:

• Be used over the Internet and data connections
• Provide secure file acquisition
• Enable secure file transmission
• Store files offsite with strong security

Security is integral to BCVault's design. Files are acquired by the BCCollector on your site. The Collector can only 'see' files, directories and servers and desktop machines where you have provided permission for it to do so.

BCVault's backup system is controlled from a Desktop GUI (Graphical User Interface). This is protected by strong paswording. All access to files on your site is via the BCCollector.

THE BC COLLECTOR & KEY

The BCCollector provides file caching and manages your pre-configured backup sets to the timetable you create. The Collector has a unique 'PGP' type encryption key - this is your property and we do not have a copy of this unless you provide it to us. This key manages the encryption of your offsite vault and any encryption of files in transit to it. Access and recovery of your files from the Vault is only possible using this key.

ENCRYPTION

Files can be transmitted 'open' or at various levels of encryption (see box, above right). Encryption can be selective. Your offsite Vault is encrypted by default.
